Fake diamond rings
Fake diamond rings is a commonly used expression that is used to describe a ring that does not contain a natural diamond. The diamond that is referred to in the expression can mean something that consists of virtually any kind of gemstone material, and a variety of processes used to make the material. Generally, fake diamond rings can be either simulants, or synthetics.
Simulants, refer to anything that looks like a diamond but, is something other than diamond. Examples Include: plastic, glass, Strontium titanate, zircon, cubic zirconium, synthetic rutile, and spinel. All of these faux diamond rings can look like diamond.
Synthetic refers to material that is actually diamond. But, is manmade and is not natural. Within the past few years crystal growers have successfully produced diamond in sizes and qualities that make

look as good as natural gemstones. Often times the average person has a very difficult time distinguishing the natural diamonds from simulant or synthetic. With proper training and instruments distinguishing among them is not difficult.
