Jewish temple

What did the Jewish temple represent, and what does that mean for Christians today?

The Jewish temple meant a place of divine presence. The word templum means to cut out a particular place where one can see clearly. Traditional Jews are known as the seers, or the one who see God. A templum is like looking at the horizon unobstructed.

It is interesting to note that the word temple is in the word contemplation. Contemplation means to meditate on spiritual matters, especially as a form of devotion. When one is contemplating, one cannot see God except through Christ. Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7If you know me, you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.Jn14:6

An old monk once said to his protegee: Father how much will I do (spiritually speaking) on earth? How far will I progress? The old monk said, Half as much as me. Then the young monk said: Father how much will the generation after me do? The old man said, half of what you do. Then the young monk said if that is so, what about generations after me? The old monk said, They will be so special to God and seated high in heaven because of their faith. Under those circumstances faith is highly respected because they did not need to see to believe.

Like what Christ said to Thomas perhaps; 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. Jn20:24...

It is said that men are so fixated on the mind, flesh and emotions that they can hardly recognize the spirit of God but, it is precisely this Spirit man that can see God. So how does one tune into the spirit man to see God? You must enter the temple. Not the Jewish temple made of stone but, the new temple. And where is this new temple? It is inside you. 16Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? 1Cor3:16.

We are to look inside ourselves and have faith that we will see God . And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6 . And when you look, do not look with the eyes of the flesh but with the eyes of a crucified and resurrected man which says that it is not by his faith but, Christs faith which is in him that he is able to approach and see God.

Amethyst signifies the heart of the lowly that die with Christ. Its violet colored beauty sends out golden flames and little purple marks. Amethyst signifies those who pray for their enemies. And this is the virtue of virtues to pray for those who persecute you. Few are found to have done this but, nevertheless two are found in the old testament, to be sure Moses and Samuel, and two are found in the new treatment, the Lord Christ and Stephen...Marbode

In the Jacinth or hyacinth is the wisdom of discernment. This virtue is able to impart wisdom to the immature as well as the mature. He becomes all things to all people in order to win them. Jacinth signifies the angelic life. Jacinth changes its color with the condition of the sky. If the sky is clear, it shines, if its cloudy, it does not shine. It signifies those who are wise and understand how to contend with the wise men in understanding, so that after the way of listeners they prepare themselves just as the apostle said, yet among the mature we do impart wisdom. 1cor 2:6. To those who knew too little he said, In as much as I have been unable to give food to you as men of the spirit, but, as of two men of the flesh, I have given you milk to drink not food. 1Cor3:1-2 This apostle was Jacinth and so he equalized himself so that he might be all things to all people, saying, I am made all things to all people so that I may have all.1Cor 9:22

It originates in dry inhabitable, cold regions. Through this stone, that is the emerald, we give those a name that is greener or healthier than all others in faith. They are not double minded, nor do they do not serve two masters, but those who posses always their steadfast purpose and the gem of faith, which the demons wish to wrench away from them, by overcoming them through the aid of God.

Chalcedony

Chalcedony holds the flame of inner charity. Holding the image of fire chalcedony reddens in public and it gives a gleam in the cloud. It represents the virtue of the faithful serving in secret. As long as it is in the house, chalcedony does not shine but under the open air, it brightens. This stone resists those desiring to sculpture or to cut it. Warmed by the suns rays or, by rubbing it with the fingers, it attracts chaff to it. In the same way those who conceal their goodness is represented, also represented are those who do good works in secret, like giving or fasting. Matt 6:27
When however, those are compelled to go out in the world then their goodness is revealed and they shine: and if anyone wishes to flatter them or to give them praise, just as if it were sculptured or painted, they do not accept it but in fact, resist the praise with great strength.
When warmed by the radiance of the true sun, that is Christ or handled and warmed by the fingers, that is by the gifts of the Hoy Spirit, by the word of their preaching and by the example of their goodness, they draw the chaff, that is sinners, to themselves and they ally sinners to themselves and they admonish themselves, and admonish them to persevere in good works...Marbode

Jasper represents true faith. Jasper or chalcedony of green color represents FAITH. Jasper was often used as a seal. One form of Jasper is the Bloodstone chrysoprase, a dark to medium green, it is said to have been formed when Christ blood fell to the ground and was scattered on the rocks under the cross. Early Christians wore it to remind them of Christs sacrifice.
jasper reveals the greenness of faith
Which is in all perfect men. It never grows weak deep within. By its strong protection, the devil is resisted.
Jasper is the primary foundation of Gods church. It represents those who hold on to their faith and never let it wither away, but always remains fresh in it. They do not fear the devils craftiness.

Christian Jewelry design with red and green gemstones

The bible describes time and place where the human soul lives in the presence of God. The time is in the beginning and the place is called Eden because it is a place filled with spiritual delight. It was beautifully designed and constructed by God as a kind of residence for the soul. It was close to God so that he could visit often, usually in the cool of the evening. Water was supplied by a spring which was the source of the four rivers. One of the rivers was called Pishon. It was special from our point of view because it contained gemstones. St. Augustine, the most influential Christian theologian since St. Paul, took interest in this reference to the gemstones in paradise that were carried out of Eden in the Pishon River. He believed that the river signified one of the virtues that is always present when one is close to God. That virtue is prudence which he defined as living life in such a way that the mind is always focused on God. It is a habit of always looking up instead of down. In his way, the soul receives the wisdom that comes from heaven. He is in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him. That St. Augustine says is prudence. It is not only the way to live but, is the only way one can live close to God.
Associated with this river of prudence are two varieties of gemstones. St. Augustine called them carbuncle and the leek green variety (red and green). This could be taken to mean panoply of red and green gem varieties including ruby, garnet, spinel, chalcedony, emerald, tourmaline beryl, zircon, etc
St. Augustine thought the two colors of gemstones clarified the nature of this heavenly river of wisdom. He said the red gemstone means that this wisdom is absolute. It is subject to neither doubt nor argumentation. The green gemstone on the other hand represents the durability of this wisdom. It is eternal and it does not change. It always remains green. It is eternal. It does not wither and die.

Speading the Light part three

Once he had completed the design, Arlan used a faceting machine to fashion a prototype in CZ. He took it to several manufacturers to see there was any interest, and found it in Gemco International. All told, the process has taken about three years. Today Gemco is cutting cross of light diamonds and distributing them to independent jewelers. Arlan has been selling the stone in his store for about a year. Plans are in the works to begin a Cross of Light Jewelry line of pendants, earrings, and necklaces that will empower retailers to sell the stones by showcasing them prominently.

Despite the time and energy he put in to designing the Cross of Light, the only money Arlan sees from the stone is the money he makes when he sells one. Gemco pays royalties on what they sell, but every royalty goes straight to the Cross of Light Diamond Foundation. AN organization founded by Arlan and his family to provide for the education of AIDS orphans in Africa. According to the foundations website, each one-carat Cross of Light Diamond that is sold covers most of the expense to send a child to school for a year.

At its core, the Cross is a symbol of self sacrifice; one Man giving Himself for all others. As such, it is a poignant call to action whether we are considering our spouses or the underprivileged around the world. How appropriate to place the symbol of that sacrifice next to something so beautiful.

Spreading Light One Diamond at a Time
By: Josh Tenery
The Cross. It is iconic in its simplicity. Once the most heinous instrument of torture and execution, it is now one the most recognized symbols in the world-a rallying point for all Christendom. Christians of all denominations and creeds unite around their common understanding and affinity for the cross, carrying it on necklaces, wearing it as earrings, pendants and tattoos. Now, those who so choose can also where the cross on their engagement or anniversary ring, emblazoned within the stone itself

Speading the Light part two

For 30 years, Arlan Abel has been serving the community of Minneapolis, Minnesota as an independent jeweler. It was only recently that he was struck with the inspiration to serve his customers in a fresh and exciting ways. A practicing Christian himself, Arlan understood perfectly when he observed many of his customers regarding their engagement and anniversaries as spiritual events. It prompted him to find a way to design a stone as an s spiritual symbol. And so, he began working with a rare piece of software that helped to design and predict the light return of a new stone.

In time, he created the Cross of Light Diamond, unique cut whose facets combine to form three distinct crosses=the Greek Cross, the Star Cross, and the Maltese Cross-each with individual meanings in the Christian tradition. Arlan recalls. I always wanted the symbol to be a cross; its the most used and best recognized Christian symbol.

The three crosses required sixteen additional facets for a total of 69. Arlan said that many customers would value the serendipity of the crosses enough to overlook any minor aesthetic shortcomings. What he found however, is that he was able to add the facets, and thus the crosses without losing fire or brilliance.

Anniversary gift ideas

This year we are awakened to the possiblity that life as we know it is changing. The world is becoming smaller, more united, and more relativistic. We need to be reminded that God is in control of those who are called. He has the reigns and He does not wish us harm but, hope and a future.

As a married woman for thirteen years I have found it most challenging not to become so distracted with this world that I do not give God the time of day, or sacrifice my time for people, especially my spouse. Many times I feel like giving up. It is very difficult to find positive role models for marriage. It seems as though everyone around me is wearing a mask, but, is really dying inside. It seems that passion is almost unheard of after the first couple of years in a marriage.

Then there are some of you who have discovered that being in love is a choice. That real love is doing what you do not want to do for someone else. But, doing it out of honor. This is what I call real love, unconditional love. I do not believe this is possible without experiencing Gods deep love for us. When I look at my husband I do not see a man with many faults. When I look with my spiritual eyes I see a son with a very proud dad. When I see my husband through the eyes of the Father, I must change my negative criticism to mercy and empathy. I must give freely what Gods has given to me.

I encourage anyone giving a gift to their spouse for an aniversary to think about this. Design something meaningful that speaks to your husband or wife. Then, when they look at it it will remind them who cares for them deeply and promised never to forsake them. When you connect on this deeper level spiritually, and acknowledge the fact that you and your spouse are one, than you are truly blessed.

I see now that many of the painful experiences we have suffered in our marriage were graciously allowed for the refinement of our marriage. It is not perfect but, as I reflect on my ring which carries within it a cross of light diamond, I am daily reminded of the spiritual commitment I have with my husband and gives a spiritual perspective of hardships we encounter.

Prodigal son or daughter themed Christian jewelry

This pendant was designed to illustrate Gods unconditional love for the return of the son. In the case of this particular pendant the Christian jewelry designer gave this to his wayward daughter when she returned from home after 6yrs as a runaway. The green tsavirite was chosen because green is the color that expresses a new beginning, or fresh start. The gold that surrounds the tsavorite is like a womb that is holding or protecting the soul. The gold fray represents the breaking through of the veil to uncover the truth of Christ who is running to meet the soul which is expressed through contemporary form of a dove descending to meet the soul.

Designing jewelry to reflect your faith

What we wear reflects who we are. The Cross of Light Diamond is a new diamond that has become available to those who want to express Christian values. It was designed to represent how we are a reflection of the invisible God. The diamond reflects the invisible light and becomes an array of color.

Many saints throughout history have looked upon the diamond as a representation of how God sees our soul. Diamond is the hardest substance in Gods creation and it is a great medium to illustrate this truth. The Cross of Light Diamond is a perfect way for a couple to express to each other that they are one anothers soul mate.
